Ring All Extensions

I currently have a TBPro with Call Center. It offers a 'ring all' function which does exactly as it says, when someone dials our AA and presses an option, I can have it ring all extensions. I am about to set up another office that has no need for the Call Center application - only has a need for a ring all scenario.

Can any one recommend an easy solution to allow for 'ring all' without having to get Call Center? Would it be a solution to just put the 'main line' as a line on each Polycom and if so, would it ring all phones when a call comes in?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

You would add the extensions

You would add the extensions to the Blast Group. Just edit each extension and add them to the blast group. Without Call Center Edition, you can only have 1 Blast Group, and Fonality has a default limit of 10 extensions per blast group.

What would be the

What would be the repercussions of changing that default to 20? I need this to work with 20 extensions... Would it fry the system? Do I just need to increase the memeory? If so, what would you recommend?

It all depends on your

It all depends on your hardware. If you have a beefy enough server, you probably will not have any issues. If you dont, then you can cause the phone system to lock up. When you are doing a blast group to 20 phones, the phone system is trying to make 20 concurrent phone calls which takes a lot of processing power.

If you require digital

If you require digital T1/E1/PRI connectivity, this is the package for you. This trixbox Pro Appliance solution features an Intel P4 Processor, 512MB RAM, 80GB dual HDs with RAID, and dual NIC (onboard network adapter and additional NIC with 4-port switch); pre-configured for VoIP and digital connectivity with a Sangoma Single T1 card.

This is what i'll be running. It's one of the TrixBox appliances.... I'm thinking maybe bump the RAM up to 2Gb?

Also, would it be the same

Also, would it be the same as just making the main line an extension and having that extension appear on all phones? Based on your previous answer I would assume that it would require the same 20 concurrent calling power...?

I honestly cant tell you for

I honestly cant tell you for sure if that server will be able to handle that many extensions in a blast group. I know I have installed a Dell server with a quad core and 4 gb ram and had no problems with 15 in a blast group.

Fonality had a doc a while back that showed how many concurrent calls each type of server could handle.

A P4 with 512mb of ram could support 15 concurrent calls or 6 concurrent ACD calls.
A P4 with 1GB Ram could handle 23 concurrent calls or 9 concurrent ACD calls.
A Dual Core P4 with 1GB Ram could handle 35 concurrent calls or 14 concurrent ACD calls.

It goes up and up from here.

I've seen that before...

I've seen that before... However, I currently have that same box set up with Call Center with 12 users in a 'ring all' queue and it performs just fine... I mean... these calls are picked up within seconds... so I suppose I'll just bump the ram and give it a shot... worst that can happen is the system lock up and I realize that it won't work... I guess there are some limitations to a system with moving hardware... My Nortel MICS can shoot out a hunt group ring all call to 60 ext with no problems...

Thanks for your help.

You get a big enough server

You get a big enough server you can do the same with asterisk also. Most likely you will be fine. Fonality puts limitations on things like this to make sure you never have an issue. Upgrade the Ram and test it out, I bet you will be fine with just 20..
