I got a customer that I want to sell one of these to. I like the fact it doesn't use hard drives, supports SLA (Key system lines), and is very small and reasonably priced.

Anyone using one of these with the latest 1.2.1 firmware? I can't find any reviews or opinions anywhere. I understand they were having problems with SLA which doesn't surprise me but I'm hoping they worked it out with the latest firmware.

have one installed for a small client, not using SLA, coming from vanilla asterisk and trixbox I can say these devices are pretty much locked down, theres not much you can do with them. The dialplan has to be as simple as it can get, not much room for customization. The most frustrating point for me was when I discovered you had to have 1 aastra phone for every non aastra phone you want to plug in (ATAs, conference phones, etc) and its sorta bounded to it with a Followme.. Anyways, I'm glad its installed and working but personnaly I don't want to install it ever again, I'm just not done for these closed down boxes.

I guess if you are aware of what it can and cannot do and it suits your clients needs then its a good box. Just make sure you read the manual carefully.

Yea, locked down is quite a pardigm shift from totally open that's for sure. It's got some compelling features that many small business expect like the music on hold input and SLA. I like the failure switch that connects an FXS port directly to an FXO line if the unit fails. Hard to beat that price for 6FXO, 2FXS and a lot of the standard things in Asterisk like voicemail and conference call.
