Hello all,
As some of you may well have already noticed, version 2.3 of the Aastra phone firmware is now available from http://www.aastra.com/cps/rde/xchg/SID-3D8CCB6A-7C1E2C61/04/hs.xs...

A question for the aastra people, when do you think there will be a rolled up rpm update for Trixbox? Thanks for the great work.

A couple of things are worth

A couple of things are worth highlighting:

For all trixbox users it is recommended that you enable the "Ignore Out of Sequence CSEQ Errors" feature. This avoids you having to enable pedantic mode on asterisk to make BLF subscriptions survive a server reboot.

The "Preferred Line Focus Feature" means that the phone, by default, will switch back to the first line after a call on another line if finish. Previously, the phone would stay on line 3 after a call on line 3, this is still available via a configuration setting.

There are some other out of the box changes, so I'd suggest reading the release notes before upgrading.

2.3 Firmware looks pretty

2.3 Firmware looks pretty nice... I just dropped it on our server to test on a couple of 57i's later today.

Some of the enhancements look really nice... I liked the preferred line enhancement (always found this behaviour a little annoying as it was different than the 480i/9112i/9133i which always default to line 1.

I also really like the ignore CSeq errors to fix some BLF troubles.

However.. what looks really really promising is the XML enhancements... looks like alot of really good stuff there. It looks like it should be possible to build a much much much better version of the visual voice mail app now, as well as many other things.

Just as a bit of an aside... I know the previous generation of phones are basically obsolete now (480i/9112i/9133i) as they have been replaced by the 9480i and 9143i... which I have to admit they seem like a bit of a let down as they are just the same as the previous versions but able to run newer firmware... but anyways, my question is...

Does Aastra have plans on releasing any updated firmware beyond the 1.4.2.3000 version which is basically a year old now? It appears to have a bug where the phone displays "No Service" even though there is absolutly nothing wrong with it... It says no service, but the red light doesn;t come on. This seems to happen a lot on the 9133i, the phone works fine and as soon as somebody picks up the handset or receives a call the display goes back to normal. But its difficult explaining to end users that just because it says "No Service" doesn;t mean its broken. Thats my only real problem with the older series of phones... though I have to admit I would also really love to see those XML enhancements on the 480i platform... but I know thats probably asking alot :p

BLF and OUT OF SEQUENCE ERROR

Is there a new config setting I need to set on the phone to enable this feature?

I cannot get BLF working with 2.3 firmware (it is the same as 2.2 from my test) with a fresh baseline install of Trixbox 2.6.1.

What feature are you trying

What feature are you trying to get working from the 2.3 firmware? the out-of-order CSeq?

sip accept out of order requests: 1

is what you need to enable that...

to do BLF, you need to decide if you want BLF/speed dial keys or BLF/xfer keys

if you want BLF/speed dial you do

expmod1 key1 type: blf
expmod1 key1 label: "Person's Name"
expmod1 key1 value: 220
expmod1 key1 line: 1

where 220 is the person's extension number

If you want BLF/xfer keys... you just change "blf" to "blfxfer"

Keep in mind the above settings are for use on expansion modules, I am using that on a 560M attached to a 57i. That above config I have tested on 2.1, 2.2, and now 2.3. The exception being that "blfxfer" only works on 2.2 and 2.3 since it was a new feature that was part of the 2.2 firmware.

Oh, and if you are not running 2.3 firmware with out of order CSeq enabled... you'll want to enable pedantic mode in Asterisk. You can do that by adding:

pedantic = yes

to your sip_general_custom.conf

If you are not doing it on expansion module buttons... it might look like this (this is un-tested):

softkey1 type: blf
softkey1 label: "Person's Name"
softkey1 value: 220
softkey1 line: 1

hack 9133i

Does anybody know if you can hack the Aastra 9133i and flash the 2.3 or 2.4 firmware versions on it?
