I am trying to get rid of the Transfer, Conference and Hold factory set default softkeys when on an active call on the Polycom 450.

I have set softkey.feature.basicCallManagement.redundant="0"

no luck.

is there something unique about the 450?

any suggestions would be great.

thanks in advance.

450 is different

From the Polycom Admin Guide;

If set to 0 and the phone has hard keys mapped for Hold, Transfer, and Conference functions (all must be mapped), all of these soft keys are not displayed.

The 450 does NOT have a mapped Transfer or Conference key, so you will have to set a hard key for these to work. I have not tested this but I'm confident that it will resolve your issue.

What should be set to zero?

What should be set to zero? The parameter that you mentioned in the first post

'softkey.feature.basicCallManagement.redundant'

Have you looked through the Admin Guide? You will need to if you decide to map hard keys for this feature.

as in indicated in my post,

as in indicated in my post, the parameter is ALREADY set to zero and that is NOT helping.

I have configured 501's, 601's, 450's and 330's......the 450 is not cooperating, all other aspects of the master config that I have created for 40 poly's are working perfectly...why this isnt working on the 450 is a mystery....could it be a firmware bug? I am running the very latest firmware from polycom

have I read the admin guide, yea like over half a dozen time at the very least.

anything else I am missing?

You are missing the answer

Is there anything else you are missing? Yes, you are missing the answer

If set to 0 and the phone has hard keys mapped for Hold, Transfer, and Conference functions (all must be mapped), all of these soft keys are not displayed.

The reason this is not working on the 450 is explained in the sentence "and the phone has hard keys mapped for Hold, Transfer, and Conference functions (all must be mapped)".

The 450 DOES NOT have a Transfer or Conference hard key. You must have these as hard keys for this feature to work. The other phones have these from the factory, the 450 does not but you can map them.

yes you are correct. but

yes you are correct.

but heres the thing, I dont want the hold or transfer or conference hard buttons, the users dont need them, and its taking up space and cluttering the screen, all I would like to do is get rid of it from the screen.

question is how?

if the only way to get rid of these is to map these functions to 3 hard buttons, thats not really helping me in this deployment.

*sigh* do you not understand

*sigh*

do you not understand the difference between a hard key and a soft key?

A hard key is a button on the phone that does not change such as the number keys. A soft key is a button on your screen that changes with context. As Chadwick explained, the 450 does not have the hard buttons for transfer or Conference. Therefore the softkey.feature.basicCallManagement.redundant setting won't work on the 450 because the 450 doesn't have REDUNDANT transfer and conference keys.

joshpatten: yes i clearly

joshpatten:

yes i clearly understand hard and soft key...thank you

in this particular deployment, i am trying to find an easy way to get rid of these hold, transfer and conference soft keys, obviusly i have to first map these to a hard button and then these will be rid from the screen once the softkey.feature.basicCallManagement.redundant="0"

i was hoping for some shortcut that perhaps a polycom engineer could share.

as it is, there are limited hard keys on the 450, i dont want to waste them by mapping the hard keys to features i am trying to get rid of in this deployment...

Did anyone ever get this

Did anyone ever get this worked out? I would very much like to remove the "Hold" and "Trnsfr" buttons in the active state without having to map them to hard keys as the IP330 and IP430 don't really have an extraneous hard keys.

No

This still isn't possible. You MUST have keys (hard or soft) for Hold, Transfer, and Conference functions. The only way this will change is with a firmware change from Polycom.

Polycom 501 Softkeys

Is there a manual/program to writing the scripts for the softkeys? Would like a few simple ones like PAGE, VOICE MAIL, etc. Not sure how to program them in. I will be using the endpoint manager if that helps.

manual

Gregorywest, have you find the manual ? I'm also looking for it. Thx
there is nothing in the admin guide provided by Polycom
I mean what P1N4 means ? I know by testing, it corresponds to prompt 1, numeric 4, but which other variables can I use would be very helpful

@cortotr: polycom 3.2 sip

@cortotr: polycom 3.2 sip manual http://www.polycom.com/global/documents/support/setup_maintenance...

@therock112 Can you use the softkey.x.precede setting from page 257 of the document above. I know this is not exactly what you are trying to do, but it should at least help you insert your custom softkey before the default HOLD, TRANSFER, CONF
