Hi All.
I'm trying to get my HT502 (firmware 1.0.1.21) units downloading their config from a local TFTP server, and I'm not having success. I'm writing to ask: can the units download a config through the WAN interface, and if so, how?
Here's what I've tried:
- I have configured the LAN IP of the unit to the 10.0.0.0/24 range (because their IP is 192.168.2.1 by default, and I'm using that range on the WAN side), and set the unit to bridge mode. Ideally I wouldn't do this but the IP ranges being the same on the LAN and WAN sides make it unavoidable
- The units are receiving IPs on their WAN ports in the 192.168.2.0/24 range, by DHCP.
- I have configured DHCP option 66 (tftp-server-name) to point to the TFTP server's IP address.
- Watching the logfile for the TFTP server, there is no attempt to connect to retreive the config file
- Manually entering the TFTP server details through the web interface doesn't work either - still no attempt to download.
- I have also tried downloading by HTTP (configured in the web interface), by setting up an http server and watching the logfiles in the same way: still no joy.
Can someone confirm: is it possible to download config files through the WAN interface? It's the only interface with a DHCP client so it seems to be the most sensible choice; plus in some situations I'll be using the unit as a bridge, with a PC on the LAN side (bridged). What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your thoughts.
