Hello, I use trixbox in my home and only need one vm for multiple extensions. Is there a way for multiple bt200s to monitor one vm account, all blink the "new vm" light? Thanks for the help.

Set the mailbox entry

On an extension where you do not want VM, disable it.
In the "mailbox" field of this extension, set to "NNN@device", where NNN is the extension with the VM.
You can also monitor across channel types. E.g., I use this to set the message waiting on analog phones while the VM is on a SIP phone.
Hope this helps.

Thanks!

it works great! two follow ups since you were on the money with that one.

1. How does the analog trick work? i have some panasonic cordless phones but i think the message waiting feature is proprietary.
2. how to get the message button on the bt200s that are monitoring another extensions vm to dial it direct without having to manually enter the mailbox. i tried messing with the "Voice Mail UserID:" field in the phone config with no luck.

Thanks again!

The analog should work...

1. The Zap driver, at various times, sends out the message waiting status on a line. It works with all of my analog phones. It is a standard mechanism.
You do the same thing as with your SIP non-VM extensions--fill the mailbox field.
You should see the message waiting appear when your VM receives messages. Even if you check your VM on a SIP phone, when you finish, the analog phone will be sent new status.
The few times I have seen the analog not clear, simply take the phone off hook, and put it back. The update will be sent.

2. In your non-VM phones, put '*98NNN' in the "Voice Mail UserID" field, where NNN is the extension with voicemail.
I have analog phones with a "dial VM" button. If you have this, set the button with the same value as above.

You are awesome!

#2 worked like a champ! The wife was getting sick of the blinky lights and not remembering which extension. Thanks! Will report back if #1 works.
