Hi All

Am new to trixbox and grandstream systems,
my question is; Can trixbox work with grandstream gxe5024 as its PSTN gateway?
What am trying to archive is;
1. Have trixbox install on a PC which has no FXO ports and manage extensions from it
2. Use a GXE5024 with four(4) FXO ports as my PSTN gateway.

Is this possible and if yes whats the confiuration to enable me make out/in calls?

Thanks

Not sure if it will work

The GXE5024 is basically a VoIP PBX already so it may not be possible but it would be worth a try.

The first thing you would need to do is create a sip trunk between the trixbox and the GXE5024. The settings for the trunk should just be default but registration using a username and password is not required because we want the 2 devices to trust all SIP traffic from each others IP addresses at all times.

The rest is just theory from my end as I don't have a GXE5024 on hand. You need to setup a rule on the GXE5024 to forward all incoming calls to the SIP trunk that goes to your trixbox. Once this is in place you can test it by calling one of the analogue lines connected to the GXE5024. If you get the IVR of the trixbox you are half way there unless your outbound calling from the trixbox is going to use a SIP trunk to VoIP carrier directly. If the trixbox is connected directly to a VoIP carrier you won't need to route outbound calls through the GXE5024.

If you want to route outbound calls from the trixbox server through the GXE5024 you will need to create your dial plans for external calling to use the SIP trunk that goes to the GXE5024. This is where things might be a little tricky. You would need to somehow get the GXE5024 to forward all calls from the trixbox to the available phone lines on the GXE5024. I don't know how to do this so you might need to contact Grandstream for some help. Just give it a try and see if you can do it yourself though.

If you were just wanting to connect analogue phone lines with your trixbox server you should probably have gone with a GXW4104 http://www.grandstream.com/support/gxw_series/gxw410x/gxw410x_sup...
