yet another GXP2000 BLF topic

Hi folks,

we waited desperately for the new firmware release, claiming to fix the BLF issues in conjunction with Asterisk 1.4. So far, they have done a good job to fix the "being busy indicator" (if someone is busy on the phone). But if a phone is switched off the BLF LED still indicates with a green (available) light on the other phones. Miss-leading the lady's at the Front Desk and let them forward to someone who is not at the office any more.
Is there also a patch coming, or is it a simple configuration matter?

Many thanks in advance.

Have 2010's on both Asterisk 1.6 Vanilla and Trixbox 2.6 - having the same issue. Updated the firmware to the latest as well

Sorry to barge in but I can't believe people are still screwing around with that junk and pulling their hair out, waiting and hoping for that next version of firmware that will fix everything. Same old story for years now!

I have a feeling....

That this has probably been resolved, just needs a little mod, but have not got the first clue about what it could be.

I don't consider GS phones to be 'junk' as I have used them without issue for quite some time now and find they work very well.

My opinion: Grandstream is unsupported trash. Poorly made and numerous unresolved software bugs. See Josh Patton's thread on SIP compliance issues.

Agreed. The hardware on the GXP-2010's and GXP-2020's is decent, but the software is terrible. I struggled with eventlist BLF (non-Asterisk) for almost a year before cutting my losses and going to Polycom. I almost ruined my reputation with Grandstream phones. Polycom phones, however, support it brilliantly and their enhanced BLF support is pretty awesome too: http://knowledgebase.polycom.com/knowledgebase/End%20User/Tech%20... (but it only works with Broadsoft style BLF, something Asterisk doesn't offer).

That being said I don't believe the BLF feature you want is possible unless the receptionist is monitoring DND BLF events from Asterisk. Scott explained in a different thread how to get devstate working to support this.
