PAP2T WEIRDNESS, dialing delay

I have two linksys pap2t's working with trixbox, everything "works" however when I try and dial out there is a 5 second delay before the call goes through, this is an annoyance I was wondering if anyone is aware of a proper config that I can use with these devices to get around this issue, I found a post here that someone else was pressing the # button to dial, this allows the calls to go through but I again hoping someone knows the magic to get around this before I put this system in production.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Dial Plans

Hi Kevin
In order for your PAP2T to connect the call immediately after you dial you need to set up a dial plan. On the web configuration page under the "Line x" tab at the bottom there is field for a dial plan. The dial plan tells the PAP2T which numbers to match, for example:
(*xx|8xxxxxxx|0[2-9][2-9]xxxxxxx)
matches feature codes, 8 digit number beginning with 8 and 10 digit numbers beginning with 0 and 2-9.
More info on the Linksys dial plan format can be found in the IP Phone Admin Guide: http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urldata&blobhead... under 'dial plan examples'

Dialplan

Hey Kevin,

I'm noticing the same 10s delay. I have the dialplan setup, but I do not see the timeout anywhere. Did you solve this problem? If you're in North America, and if this turned out to be a dialplan issue, do you mind sharing how you solved it?

Thanks!

I use the PAP2T for fax

I use the PAP2T for fax machines and modems. When ever I send a fax I never noticed any large delay, maybe 2 sec tops. What hardware version are you running? Areyou willing to send over screen shots of your set up?

I dont think its a dial plan issue.

From memeory the way I soved

From memeory the way I soved this was to remove the dial plan completly then it went away. I use an FXS now so I dont have the issue, but like I say, I am sure mine went away after removing teh dial plan.

PAP2T Post Dial Delay Resolution

Hey guys,

I just resolved the same 10 second PDD (post dial delay) problem with my PAP2T without modifying the dial plan.

I'm using a PAP2T running 3.1.15 firmware:

1) login to the PAP2's GUI
2) click 'Admin Login' and switch to 'Advanced View'
3) 'Regional' tab > 'Control Timer Values' section
Here's where the magic happens...
4) The 'Interdigit Long Timer' is defaulted at 10 seconds hence the 10 seconds of PDD
5) change this to 3 seconds or so and now your PDD is only 3 seconds

One caveat to this is that the call is sent after the Interdigit Long Timer has been exceeded regardless of the number of digits dialed. For example, if the timer is set at 1 second, you dial your NPA and then take >1 second to dial the NXX, the call will fail because it will send only the 3 digit NPA. However, I've been testing the timer at 3 seconds and it seems to be the sweet spot between sending the digits too fast and too much PDD.

update for my pap2t (s)

Sorry all I have not been tracking this thread, I gave up on the pap2t because I was having other issues with them, I switched to spa942 phones which work very well.

Additional problems I had with the pap2t is that I couldn't reliably use both ports ( 2 phones per unit) sometimes it would ring both phones and also seemed to be useless when I had more than 10 feet of wire to the phones, I did try different analog phones. using these for fax is interesting I may try to dig them out again

Thank you and a question about ring back

Hi, Jutt

Just wanted to say thanks for your posting of the information. It solved my problem with the SPA2102 delay. I had so many tech support telling me to set this and that and to change the dial plan and non of it had any thing to do with the last digit delay. Sure changing the dial plan to fit your location or area code is the right thing to do but in my experience until I changed the Interdigit Long Timer nothing worked. I had to dial # after the number to get the call started.

Now I have another weird problem with the SPA210 when I dial a land line phone number everything works fine. However, when I call a cell phone number or a number the call is processed but I don't hear the phone ring back. The reason I know the call is processed is because the called party answer the phone. All I hear is nothing until the person at the other end answer the phone. I have tried all the options about forwarding port 5060 and changing port 5060 to 5160 nothing worked yet. It seems like the spa is not getting packet it needs to ring back. The crazy part is it work fine if I call a standard land line phone.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Kevin, As long as you use

Hi Kevin,

As long as you use a unique "User ID" and "Password" for both "Line 1" and "Line 2" there should be no problem. You can also change the "SIP Port" on "Line 2" to use 5061 so that each line has a different SIP signaling port. You may also want to upgrade the firmware to 5.1.6(LS) which is the latest.

The "Interdigit Long Timer" setting is the used if there is no digit string match in the "Dial Plan" setting. If you use the "#" key after entering a phone number the PAP2T will send the digits to your trixbox server immediately instead of waiting for the "Interdigit Long Timer" to countdown.

If you are going to use the PAP2T with fax machines you should make sure the fax machines can have their Tx and Rx speeds adjusted down to 9k6 as you can get transmission issues with fax over SIP.

Regards,

2 extensions on PAP2T with trixbox pro ee

I have a PAP2T that I am trying to set up with two different extensions, one for each line. I have line one working great. but I can never seem to get line 2 to work as a separate extenstion due to the PAP2T only having one MAC address and only being able to be registered as one phone. Is there a way to configure 2 different extensions for a PAP2T?

Use Softphone

Hi Michael,

Don't use the MAC address of the device when using a PAP2T. You will need to add 2 "trixbox Softphone" devices in the "phones" tab in your CP and assign them to the new extensions. Then use the username and password for the new "SOFTPHONE" devices to configure the registration details on your PAP2T.

Enjoy,
