I have a remote extension at my house, it is a Cisco 7940 - firmware 8.12. Connected to the trixbox 2.8 running at my small office. Everything works fine but then out of the blue after about 2-3 hours all incoming and outgoing sounds go away. I found a incomplete fix - a very simple fix. I just go to my trixbox GUI - Extensions - Chose my remote extension - without changing anything, I just scroll down and hit "Submit" and then "Apply Configurations Changes" - and then all of the sudden everything starts to work again, without rebooting or resetting the phone..... But the problem is that I have to keep on doing this every 2-3 hours..... Can anyone help?

PS. I tried to change the configs in SIPDefault - Phone Registration Expiration - from (Default) 3600 to 300. but it didnt help at all...

Strange Remote Cisco 7940 Problem

If there is a second SIP device at home (behind NAT) you would need to configure it for a different port, i.e. 5061 instead of 5060.

in device options:
nat = yes
port = 5061 (you will need to adjust the unique SIP????????.cnf config file to match the port here [voip_control_port: "5061"]) reboot the phone after this
qualify = try "yes"; "no" and "never"

Thirdly you may need to update the firmware on your home NAT router.
