Hi

I just got my 480i CT with base unit and the cordless handset. Have a few questions.

1. I charged it to full yesterday(I guess I did, it's because when I got the cordless out of the box, it was already half charged, it didn't took long for it to charge to full. I thought with cordless phones like that, don't we have to charge over 24 hours or something like cell phones?). I then leave it overnight out of the charging base. In the morning the battery went out?? Is it a defective battery or is it just short battery life?

2. Is it bad for the cordless to be in charging base indefinitely when not in use? (shorten battery life?)

P.S

I think the battery went out because pressing buttons, nothing happens

Re: 480i CT cordless handset short battery life?

I'm not sure why the battery indicator initially reported it was half charged, but the handset should be given 6 hours to charge before it's first used.

It's fine to leave the cordless handset in cradle when it's not in use. The handset will only charge when it needs to, ie it does not continuously charge, therefore there is no negative effect on battery life.

Re: 480i CT cordless handset short battery life?

fwiw, I've had a similar experience with one of my four handsets.

The battery was basically empty when I set it up, then after being in the cradle for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, it showed FULL, and was not charging anymore. In an attempt to ascertain if the issue was with the battery or the phone, I took the battery out of another new cordless, and switched. Well, "where the battery went, the problem went", so I knew it wasn't the phone itself. I just let it be and resigned to "see" how it would work out under "real" usage later on.

In general, it doesn't seem to be any better or worse than the other three cordless' as far as battery life goes. That said, my users complain the battery life "sucks" and aren't happy there.

From the short time I've used the cordless' myself, I would have to agree that battery life is woefully inadequate to say the least, and is the biggest downside to an otherwise great phone.

I got more measurements done. Just leave the cordless sitting there in stand-by mode without making even 1 single call after a full charge is about 10 hours. Not very impressive. Just stand by. Also the buttons doesn't feel very good. I like my 5.8ghz Panasonic Cordless feel.
