Aastra 57i goes to "no service", must reboot

Greetings,

We are running Trixbox 2.2, Asterisk 1.2.23, with about 100 Aastra 57is, firmware 2.1.1.71.

Randomly, with no pattern we've detected, we'll have phones display "no service" and will not ring when called. Phone is still on the network (ping-able) and you can still make calls. It's as if they've un-registered themselves. Reboot the phone and all is well again. Some phones have never done it, some have done it once, some have done it several times. Other than this the system is working great.

Anyone have any ideas for me? Many thanks.

same problem

I have the same problem. It's been the only annoyance with my aastra 9133i.

I noticed that there is a new firmware for the 5i phones. Couldn't help but notice this little tid bit:

"Fixed crash after the phone looses connectivity to the server and goes into the "No Service" state."

http://www.trixbox.org/forums/vendor-moderated-forums/aastra-endp...

It must be a known issue. I'm not sure why Aastra hasn't fixed the bug in all their phones.

Firmware?

We are testing the newest firmware and it looks promising. Too early to be sure, since the problem is intermittent.

2.1.2.30 seems to fix it, not sure yet

We went to firmware 2.1.2.30 and haven't had any repeats of this problem yet, but it's only been a few days. Firmware 2.2 is really new...

I'd highly recommend using 2.2.0 if you suffer from registration problems (network issues, etc.) resulting in the phone displaying No Service. One of the issues resolved in 2.2.0 was a phone crash caused by the phone going into the No Service state, by only upgrading to 2.1.2.30 I fear you are sitting on a ticking time-bomb.

Not necessarily a fix but if

Not necessarily a fix but if you try set
sip registration period: 120
sip registration retry timer: 120

in your cfg file the phone should re-register every couple minutes assuming it's not crashing.

2.2.0 seems good

FYI, this problem has completely disappeared since we updated to 2.2.0.

Solution for "No Service"

This is a registration timeout message, the solution is to set the SIP registration times to never expire.

For example, Aastra 480i

Go to -> Global SIP

Under the = Basic SIP Network Settings

Registration Period = 0

Under the = Advanced SIP Settings

Registration Failed Retry Timer = 1
Registration Timeout Retry Timer = 120
Registration Renewal Timer = 0

Let me know if this helps...

STill "No service"

Hello

I tried the "Grandanet" solution but still "no service" happen on my seven 6757ict

All the phone are on the same local network, with a 48 ports poe switch
the no service seem to happen to all the aastra phone almost in the same time,
On the same network polycom: ip650, ip335, external iax softphone and internal sip softphone work flawless!!

The Software is: 2.5.2.1010
The bootromm is: 2.4.0.80

I Also tried the qualify= no
Witout any luck too.

The phone run on the wonderfull aastra Xml script, and the problem seem to be present only since the script is running!
During the test period of the pbx and phone... the phone was simply running as sip extension without any problem, and the script setup was not run on the server before the problem begin!!

Any help will be apprciated!!
Thank you
Gaetan
