GXP2000 Config Files

I am having a problem configuring my gxp2000 via tftp. It currently is working with the phonebook and idle screen xml but I can not get it to retreive the config file. I have the file name as:

cfg000b88088ffa

(different MAC address then listed)

What do I set in the Web Interface for Prefix and Postfix? Also, in the manual is mentions cfg.txt. I can not find any examples of this.

What is the correct file name structure of the cfgMAC?
What is the correct settings for Prefix and Postfix?
Please provide a sample of the cfg.txt file.

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

James,

I am assuming you are using one of our config tools available at www.grandstream.com, these tools will take a text template file and spit out a cfg000b82xxxxxx file which the GXP2000 will accept from the TFTP Server.

You can download these tools from:-

http://www.grandstream.com/y-configurationtool.htm

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Incorrect assumption. I am a MAC guy and you do not have tools that run on MAC. i have configured the file manually.

What do I put in the Prefix and Post Fix of the phone?

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

You need to convert you .txt config file into the grandstream format i.e. using the windows or linux tools from grandstream.

Here is a sample config I use for all my phones. Firmware 1.1.14

GXP Sample config

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

I have that already....

What is the Grandstream format? I have the file saved as cfg with no extension... Your sample config is gxp2000.txt

What is the actual file name and extension format you have in your /tftpboot?

Do you put anything in the GXP2000 CONFIG PREFIX and POST FIX fields in the web interface of the phone?

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Its just a binary file. But the grandstream unit will only accept ones generated by Grandstream config tool (which I see is what you did). Do you see the unit requesting cfgMAC file from your TFTP Server?

Yes...

Nov 13 22:00:39 asterisk1.local atftpd[30216.-1209017424]: Serving cfg000000000ffa to 192.168.0.3:39549

For some reason it is not being used by the GXP2000

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Why is the filename cfg000000ffa? It has to be the same MAC address as the grandstream unit (ex. cfg000b82xxxxxx)

Am i missing something here?

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

The file name is cfg. I put zeros in place of my mac id number so it would not be published on the forum....

So I guess cfg0008b2xxxxxx .... would make more sense.

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

If you have hand configured the phone at any poinnt it doesn't appear to use the config files until you do a factory reset to clear everything. Then go in and configure just the config (and firmware) server from the web or phone menu interface.

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Just tried it! now I have an unconfigured phone..... It didn't work... Now I really need to get this working. I may dump these phones and buy more Aastra 480i CTs...

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Okay so out of frustration, I took the template file to a friend who uses Windows. Ran the Grandstream configuration program and uploaded the generated file to my Trixbox tftp server. Now it works. That is good news.

However... I am not too happy about having to use the configuration program to get the file to work. I do not need a configuration program to use the Aastra 480i CT... This is too many steps to get a file to work. I may need to reconsider getting more GXP2000. With the audio issues and now this....

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

If you're using Trixbox 1.2.x, it's Grandstream endpoint manager does work (I've got 26 phones and they all download their configs). It's a bit clunky in that you have to directly edit the Grandstream_GXP2000_Default.txt template file in /tftpboot before using the web interface; but it uses the linux version of the Grandstream config tool to build the cfg files.

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

The audio issues will be fixed in the new BETA release, which will be out soon guys, I know its frustrating, but trust me we are trying our level best to get this out as soon as possible.

As far as the configuration file generation procedure, its not lengthy if you have a Windows or Linux machine. I guess it would be nice to have a similar tool for Macs, but we just dont have that many Mac users with GS products. Anyways, I will forward the suggestion to our engineering.

Re: GXP2000 Config Files

Problem with using the Endpoint Manager in Trixbox is that I use all for lines for different accounts... The Manager only allows for 1...

It would be nice to not have to use their configuration utility at all. I can go in and modify the Aastra phones with a text editor, save the file as .cfg in /tftpboot and it just works...

GXP2000 Config Files

quote "You can download these tools from:-

This is a dead link. I would love a windows utility that auto created a config file. I need to upload new ring tones to the gxp2000.

Thanks

"I need to upload new ring

"I need to upload new ring tones to the gxp2000."

You can do that without the config tool. (You would need the config tool to set the custom rings based on parametrs.) You will, however, want the Windows app that will convert WAV files to whatever format it is that the GXP-2000 uses... Go surf the Grandstream site to find that.

Setup to change Extension Display name by itself nothing else.

Hi, there is any option to setup when I change the extension display name the phone automatically change on it by itself? I don't need to change any thing else just the Display name when this is changed in the extension menu on the trixbox.

Thanks in advance.
