Still can't connect client to server

Despite various questions on different forums, and much experimentation, I still cannot connect my HUDlite client to my server.
I have set up the client as per many posts, remembering to use "password" as the server password and looking up the extension username and password in the HUDlite admin section of Trixbox.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the two HUDlite server packages, but that makes no difference.
I have even uninstalled the two trixbox packages, deleted all .xml and .conf files from the various HUDlite related folders, and then reinstalled them again.
Nothing makes any difference, the client still cannot connect to the server.
Please help whilst I still have some hair ;-)

After you installed the hudlite server did you reboot the system? Sometimes both services dont start.
