this might help

1. make sure your registrations in hudlite server [admin page/asterisk dropdown/HUDlite Admin] match your desktop application.

The new HUDlite server is assigning all values.

2. User name usually includes sip in the user name (ie: sip101)
3. The password is now assigned by HUDlite. (MaiRlas93)

4. In advanced options, make sure that the server is set to your server's ip address.
5. the standard HUDserver default password is password

once these are right, click save, etc. then File -> online and you shoudl be up and running.

tried all of this before

i have tried all of the mentioned steps before but ended up with unable to connect to HUD server
i think it is not connecting to the hud server and there is some prob in the server not in the client settings

and one thing more that the HUD server status becomes unknown after sometime and i have to start the server again from the console /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S95hudlite-server start

and then the status turns to running

Uninstall HUD and Re-install

stashfeen,
I ran into this same problem, it showed up as running and none of my client hud's could connect. I uninstalled both the hudlite server package and the hudadmin server package via the packages. After that I re-installed both packages and restarted my box - then had to enter the new passwords from hudadmin. Hope this helps.

I don't want to offend

I don't want to offend anyone and this may seem a bit to obvious... but, are you using the correct password for the extension you are using? This has been suggested earlier as well so this is really a repeat.

Be sure you are using the password from trixbox.
Go to trixbox | Asterisk | HUDlite Admin
Then select the appropriate password for your HUD login.

So, if you are using extension 200 you would enter the following in the HUDlite settings:
username: sip200
password: the_password_in_the_password_field
Server Name: The_IP_of_your_TB_server
Server Password: password

This is working for us in TB 2.2.4. If you are using the 2.3 beta you may want to follow the suggestion above and remove/reinstall HUDlite and then enter the correct settings.

One final thought... make sure port 6600 is open on your network. Check your firewall hardware/software and managed switches and internal routers and open a hole. I use a free port scanner from Famatech.com... http://www.famatech.com/download/index.php

Good luck and please let everyone know if this works.

Similar problems

I am getting the same problem too!

When I telnet my trixbox on port 6600, I am getting a very similar response to 'stashfeen', is this a healthy response, or an indication of a problem.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the hudlite packages, as suggested, but this made no difference.

I have checked and double checked my extension username and password.

Where do I go next?

Clients unable to login to HudLite server

Hello All,
I am unnable to log into the Hudlite server after a new install of v1.4.32-1 on TB 2.3.1 . All clients coonnected to the Hudlite Server under T.B 2.2.1. I still have the old drive and I swapped it to verify the clients could connect.
HUD Server shows in the TB server status as yellow Unknown. But yet I can telnet to it.
This I class as a bug since there seems to be an inherent issue with the HUD Server.
Any help would be appreciated to correct this issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HudServer but still the same.

Thank You

Same problem here too......

Same problem here too...... While trying to cure a different problem by updating from TB2.2.3ce to TB2.2.4ce - see here - http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/help/ivr-intermitent... -
My HUD Clients stopped working.

So I did the yum update, and now my HUD server runs as per the home page showing it green, but no client can connect to it.

I tried a few of the things suggested in the forum - apart from uninstall and reinstall as most people in this thread say it's not worked.

In a word - help.

Possible Solution

It's may sound a bit simplistic, but this caught me as well....

I had the tbm-hudadmin package installed and ircd was listening on port 6600 AND I was getting the correct result from telnet i.e.
:HUDserver NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
:HUDserver NOTICE AUTH :*** Checking Ident
:HUDserver NOTICE AUTH :*** Found your hostname

But still no connections.

So, I went back to check the packages and the package hudlite-server.i386 0:1.4.32-1 which I swear I'd installed wasn't installed. So installed and it all works fine (of course!).

Good Luck,
Michael

Cannot connect to Hud

I had a working HUD until I did a yum update. THen it blew my Zaptel and my HUD. I downloaded the source and fixed Zaptel, but HUD eluded me. Such is the problem when a company does not have any download links on their site or source to recompile from.

Has anyone noticed HUD server can not be downloaded anymore unless you pull it from the trixbox repository?

Anyway - the answer seemed to be a blown hosts file.

I originally had:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 name.dynamichost.com

it somehow blew away the localhost setting and the HUD client stopped connecting. So if anyone has played with /etc/hosts or /etc/sysconfig/network or used a bad network tool to set their hostname you could have lost the localhost setting which is required for HUD to work properly. It is also possible that yum update did not do it to me, but rather Webmin or the Trixbox network config tool. I may have used them to change IP addresses and hostname around the same time as yum update.

Hope this saves a few people a reload - since I did not see this solution posted anywhere.

Paul's Solution worked for Me

I know it has been a few months since this post was alive, but I wanted to let everyone know that the solution Paul Norris presented here worked for me. My hosts file was botched up.

Each line of the hosts file consists of three entries seperated by the TAB character. Something like this: (replace the ---tab--- with an actual press of the tab key when editing /etc/hosts file)

127.0.0.1---tab---trixbox1.localdomain---tab---trixbox1
127.0.0.1---tab---localhost.localdomain---tab---localhost

If you are new to this, you can edit the hosts file by typing nano /etc/hosts from the linux command line.

This worked for me to... no

This worked for me too...

No reinstall was necessary... just edit the hosts file... not sure how it got messed up but it was one line instead of two with the second 127.0.0.1 missing.

resolved

change localhost to 127.0.0.1 in :
vi /usr/local/fonality/hud/conf/connect.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<opt>
    <asterisk>
        <host>127.0.0.1</host>
        <port>5038</port>
    </asterisk>
    <irc>
        <host>127.0.0.1</host>
        <port>6600</port>
        <pass>password</pass>
        <name>IRC to Asterisk command bot</name>
        <user>irc2asterisk_relay</user>
    </irc>
</opt>

[pbx.abcona.int conf]# /etc/init.d/hudlite-server start
Starting hudlite-server: [ OK ]

and :

chmod 777 /etc/asterisk/hud/users.xml
[pbx.abcona.int hud]# telnet 127.0.0.1 5038
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to pbx.abcona.int (127.0.0.1).

users.xml file is empty or malformatted.

chmod 777 /etc/asterisk/hud/users.xml
