I know that Polycom recommends making changes to sip.cfg by using a separate file and then referencing that file from .cfg

Is there a way to have the endpoint manager put that reference into .cfg when adding new phones to the network? Is there a default .cfg somewhere that endpoint manager copies and uses when creating the new .cfg files?

Thanks a MILLION!

Not sure if that's how the endpoint manager works it, but there is a 00000000000.cfg file in /tftpboot which you could modify and add a new extension to see if that's really how it works.

FWIW, and independently from

FWIW, and independently from what TB does, start by using phone1.cfg or sip.cfg as a template. Delete the attributes you don't need in your new "company.cfg" file and set the values for the attributes you intend to take precedence over sip.cfg's. Then go to the phone's mac.cfg and enter "company.cfg" anywhere to the left of sip.cfg in the CONFIG_FILES statement, separated by a "," as attributes are set in a L to R order based on the listed files specified here. Also, you don't have to use a filename with a .CFG extension, I have some phones using a phone1.xml and it still works, provided the exact filename is referenced in CONFIG_FILES. As long as its an XML file. However, some XML editors sometime creates syntax problems in the CFG files that may not be liked by the phone. I use MS XML Notepad when I can or other text editor when MS XML Notepad can't open the file.

Hope this helps.
