Dial Plan rejection

Hello,

I have about 50 Polycom IP550's set up with dial plans that allow local calls only. [2-9]xxxxxxxxx

If someone picks up the handset (or turns on speakerphone) then tries to dial a long distance number (say for example 16045551234) they get a busy signal (IE the call is rejected). However, if you dial the long distance number *before* you pick up the handset, the call goes through! How can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks,
Derek

Check you digit map. I dial a nine to get out so mine looks like this.

[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|9[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|9[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|9[2-9]xxxxxx|[2-9]xxT

Hi - sorry, that's not very helpful. Maybe i'm not asking the right question:

How do i prevent people from dialing a long distance number on a specific polycom phone?

Thanks,
Derek

Number-only dialing during

Number-only dialing during the setup phase of new calls will be compared against the patterns defined in the digitmap and if a match is found, the call will be initiated automatically eliminating the need to press Send.

When dialed before you go offhook and the string is sent, it relies on TB (or any other call control platform) to make the routing decision. Your TB should have a dialplan to secure this.

Yes, but if i have 50

Yes, but if i have 50 Polycoms and only 2 of them aren't allowed to dial long distance, how do i prevent only those 2 from dialing long distance if they dial before going offhook? It sounds like the Polycom phone ignores the "digitmap" if dialed before going offhook - so how would you prevent someone who knows the PBX dialplan from dialling out?

Yes, but if I have 50

As Mitch said, the TB provides and manages the dial plan. The phone only controls when the call is dialed, either with or without hitting the send key. The call routing is handled by the central call server, in this case TB, not the phone, or you'd have to create a dial plan in every phone.

I have 100 polycoms and 5 of them are not allowed to make outside calls. I use Custom Contexts for Freepbx. Its not available on the package manager, it must be manualy downloaded from the site and instaled using the package manager.

Then you must create a set of profiles. By default, it gives access to all functions, but you can create one that deny access do International Trunks. Then assign the context to the extension. It works in my setup.
