GXW-4104 freezes up

I have a GXW-4104 attached to my Trixbox server and use it for one incoming PSTN line. It works quite well but I do have a problem with the GXW-4104 freezing up every once in a while. Only a reboot gets it back into operation.

I have now connected it to the smart power supply which pings the device every 30 seconds and if it does not receive a response to four consecutive pings it will cycle the power automatically. At least this way I don't have to keep monitoring it and the PSTN line will be down for 2 minutes the most. It's not going to be a long term solution though and if I can't get this fixed otherwise I will have to have it replaced with something else.

Is this a known problem with this FXO gateway?

So far, we've discovered that almost all our grandstream phones have this problem, so i guess the grandstream FXO gateway also has this problem.

We are experiencing the exact same symptoms with lockups. We also enabled DEBUG mode but that didn't help, the devices lock without any error messages.

No solution so far, but we may try Power Over Ethernet and see if that helps.

viopnewbie: your situation seems to be more generalized, what exact phone model that have issues, can you specify?

gstreammkt: Thanks for pointing out the new FW version, although it is not listed on your Website. Does the new FW specifically fix a lockup issue or is it just your first recommendation to upgrade to the latest version?

Danweber, the newer firwmare did fix quite a bit of bugs, you may want to call GS Support for them to upgrade the GXW for you to test it out.
