g729 with SPA941 phones

I'm running trixbox 2.2.9 using Linksys SPA941 phones. The phones support g729, so if I understand correctly, I can use g729 for calls between these phones in house without paying for a license. (Is that correct?)

Here is what I've done so far:
-downloaded g729 binary from http://asterisk.hosting.lv/ and saved the .so file to /usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory and restarted asterisk
-did a "show translation" and g729 IS listed
-added allow=g729 to sip.conf and restarted asterisk
-dialed *02729 (the code to force g729 use), then the number on the first SPA941
-picked up the call on the receiving SPA941
-did a "sip show channel #" on the asterisk CLI and see that the receiving phone shows "Format g729" but the dialing phone shows "Format ulaw"

Can anyone help me get these phones communicating with g729?

Also, if I'm using these same phones that support g729 and a voip provider that supports g729, can I also use g729 on that trunk without paying for a license?

It looks like I solved my own problem, so I figured I'd post what I did here in case anyone else has the same issue.

I went into the web configuration page of the SPA941s and went to the tab for the Extension I'm working with. I set the Preferred Codec to g729 on both phones. Now when I have a call active between the two phones, I can do a "sip show channels" and I see both are using g729.

I've download this file codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium3.so and also codec_g729-ast14-gcc4-glibc-pentium.so, and by webmin I've tried to upload file into /usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory, but always I've this message "Failed to write to /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/codec_g729-ast16-gcc4-glibc-pentium3.so : Bad file descriptor."
any suggestion?

I don't know webmin at all, but I was able to do it with the scp command...or WinSCP, even easier. That will get the files where you need them.

Sorry, you might be more clear in the explanation? tell me step by step how you managed to download the file (what file you have donwloadded? I've a AMD duron 1000)? I'm not very practical in text mode of trixbox

What codec I must use for ADM duron 1000 and the latest version of trixbox?
The call is ended immediately
