WIP 330 reviews anyone?

I'm going to be doing some traveling and I was wondering if anyone has taken a WIP 330 specifically to another country. How'd it work out?

I couldn't wait so I went out and bought a WIP330 through Mike over at e4 Technologies. ( http://www.8774e4voip.com ) If you can't figure out the telephone number, then I'm just gonna say.. uhm.. ok. Mike was phenomenal in his service (as usual) and I got my phone the next morning (saturday) as requested.. Yes.. I paid $50-ish dollars to have it overnighted to me.. This was one of those things I wanted to mess with and see if it was going to be worth having...

I posted a full review at my blog (link below).. Hope this post helps someone considering something similar. Oh yeah.. It's a pretty slick phone once it gets firmware updated and working.. It takes a bit of patience, but it's worth it.. so far.

Percy, How is the WIP330

Percy,

How is the WIP330 durability wise? I had a WIP300 which I absolutely hated because it felt like I was going to break the thing every time I picked it up to make a call.

It feels solid. Not at all cheap. Feels like a Good Quality Cell Phone. I'm liking it so far. Gonna Test it off-site today and at the airport. (running there for a test.. lol)

I had one for a year now and love it!

I have had my WIP330 now for over a year and would not be parted from it. Call quality is great and it never drops out, it also looks uber cool. You can even use it with Hot Spots that require web based logins. You can even use it with Skype and MSN (tweaking or firmware download required). Later firmware now supports STUN and Wireless N.

On the other hand, it is expensive, can be difficult to configure, and is sometimes finicky over router/channels combinations. Support from Linksys is very poor.

Being such a fan of the device, and pathetically short of anything else to do, I have set up a web site for the use of WIP330 users.

I have used my 330 in a variety of countries, most recently, i was in Moscow last week and using it over free wifi in a restaurant there.

The inbound calls were blocked ( i think this might have been their router/firewall ) however i could still see the caller id and call that person back.

Outbound calls performed flawlessly.

I tested the phone on another network where i have access and all incoming/outgoing calls were fine.

I think that soon cellphone companies are going to have more and more sip capability and that will be the ball upon which we should be keeping our eyes. Reportedly windows mobile 6 allows seamless switching between sip lines and gsm when connected via edge and/or wifi. I would love to get my hands on the linux based E2831 which is purported to do its job well.
